The Capital Area Foreclosure Network (CAFN) is a pro-active organization with a streamlined structure. CAFN’s committees provide key stakeholders the chance to come together to tackle a specific issue that will maximize the use of an existing resource or create a new foreclosure prevention resource. Committees meet, as needed, and members can participate by phone, if their schedule does not permit them to attend in person.
General Membership
If you are not interested in joining a committee but would like to stay engaged in CAFN’s work you can become a general member. General membership allows you to pick and chose those CAFN issues and activities that are most appropriate to your time and interest. Membership is free. Steering Committee members are directly involved in developing CAFN’s work products and setting its direction. Marketing and Outreach
Studies indicate that borrowers who get help early are most likely to avoid foreclosure. CAFN’s marketing and outreach committee is working with local and national partners to refine and distribute messages letting area residents where to get help and how to avoid scams. Media outreach will include informational brochures as well as public relations campaigns using earned and paid media.
Funding and Capacity Building
Already overwhelmed by the constant stream of homeowners and renters that desperately need their help, our region’s front-line organizations need to continually strive to do more with less. CAFN’s funding and capacity building committee works to: 1) connect housing counselors and legal service providers with existing trainings; 2) host targeted local trainings in partnership with national stakeholders; and 3) provide information and resources to help fill funding gaps.
